Excellent for the price
This is the perfect budget friendly tablet to buy if your not looking for a premium tablet right now. Initially bought for my 8 yr old for his online learning but I've become the main user.On a full charge it lasts the whole day which is brilliant. It's not the fastest for Internet using the silk internet but also not too slow that it would annoy you. I've used it to access emails, read documents via kindle app, read books on kindle app and watch steaming services like bbc iplayer, netflix etc. The 8 inch screen size has felt sufficient for all these tasks and I have been quite surprised by the tablets performance.I thought there was a problem with the 3mm jack but it turned out to be the headphones itself, soon resolved by using a different set.Another plus point for me was the being able to connect the tablet to my tv using screen cast. It also has Alexa built in which is brilliant.Definitely worth considering at £50 for the more patient users who are not expecting lighting fast speeds of processing!

The size is OK 8inch.
I only bought the Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet to see what all the fuss was about. And I honestly do not know why anyone would prefer this no matter what it runs in nor the size, but this thing you call great/fantastic well I'm sorry it's the worse piece of rubbish I've come across!!I would suggest you buy something of use, because this will not let you download other voices, let you use downloaded Apps, it will not do buggar all. This is meant to be an Android Tablet what a joke it's the biggest scam from Amazon it really is. I wouldn't give this 200 stars. It is a waste of money, get yourselves a real Android Tablet, my real one is many Samsung Galaxy I've lots my main ones the S8 Ultra Tab and S9 Ultra Tab, I use the S8 Ultra for watching my many HD movies I've downloaded all on the 1TB SD card. This Amazon Fire HD 8 2024 still using Apps from years ago, with the same version from that year eg 2009. Cannot downloaded FreeVee, cannot download anything. APK doesn't work it throws you out. I put Opera Mini in as an APK it doesn't do anything, yes you can search, watch YouTube etc cannot download anything.Cannot uninstall useless Apps, basically it's not a full Android Tablet it's not even half. It's stupid and useless. So what's the point even charging it up to 100% I used my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G super fast charger it worked.I honestly am gobsmacked at this rubbish product. Sorry Amazon it's utter 💩 keep it. And your silly cover what a rip off!!The cameras front and back useless, cannot tap the screen to open it's button only, speakers rubbish, the whole thing is a joke. Just as well I didn't pay much for it, I'll shove it in a draw with the other useless tech!!I wouldn't give this 5 stars wish I could give it zero stars, who ever invented this do you have a brain? Probably not.My A34 and A55 5G is 20× better than Amazon Fire HD 8 Tablet. And it constantly freezes!!0/5 👎🏽

Perfectly fine for what it is.
I honestly don't know what the other reviewer is thinking when comparing this to a premium Samsung tablet that costs over a grand with all the trimmings. It's a bit like comparing a VW Beetle with a Lamborghini. They're nothing alike. This is perfect as something to sling in your bag and not worry about it, or give to a child rather than something more premium and more delicate. At the introductory price it's a bargain too.I'll be using it as a Kindle reader for books and graphic novels when I'm sat in the car or sat in bed, or watching the odd movie or TV show. You absolutely get what you pay for, but at sub-fifty quid this does what I need it for just fine.

Privacy and Security Issue
Any advantages I might have gained with this new 12th gen HD8 (64 gb) compared to my previous (10th gen) HD8 have been wiped out by the one big problem I’ve had. Which is: since I first turned it on I’ve been getting several false wakes every day - including several today - and this has worried me significantly. I went to the Alexa app and reviewed what the device had actually recorded and can confirm that what I’d said to trigger the recording was nothing like my wake word. In short: it’s turning on the mic and recording me pretty much randomly several times a day.I’m wondering if this is just an issue with my device or an issue with the 2024 HD8 generally. In the meantime, I’ve attempted a ‘solution’ to my problem by turning off the mic altogether: but this, of course, sets limits on what the device can do.I’d be happy to discuss this with Amazon if anybody would like to reach out. As things stand, my satisfaction with the purchase has been overshadowed by my privacy and security concerns at being recorded apparently when my new tablet feels like it.
