Sturdy and Stays Tight
After reading some reviews that this doesn’t hold all Nurge hoops and doesn’t stay tight, I was hesitant to order this floor stand. I’ve been very happy with my Nurge hoops, so I’m glad I decided to see for myself if this product is of the same quality. I needed to give my hand a rest from holding my hoop, and this has helped immensely. The stand is heavy enough to stay put with a nice, wide base, but it’s not so heavy that I can’t easily move it aside when I’m ready to get up from my stitching chair. With the number of joints it has to adjust, I found it easy to find the configuration that fits perfectly with my chair and my body. I wondered how it would be to flip to the back side of my project to bury and trim my threads. It is no problem at all. I don’t find it necessary to make the very top adjustment extra tight. My hoop stays in place, while I’m still able to easily flip it up for those purposes. I think this is an excellent stand, especially for the price difference compared with some of the other popular floor stands.

No more constant thread tangles!
This thing seems to defy physics. It's very sturdy, stays in the position you set, and delivers much more than simply using both hands: the thread does not get tangled nearly as much. As I'm getting older, my eyesight isn't as good, and so I can position this right in front of my face so I can see it and work quickly with ease. This is a game changer. I don't like buying frivolous things, if it wasn't such a miracle for me I'd be sending it back. You can see in my pictures that this is a larger project with some weight to it, and I can maneuver around the extra fabric so much easier now.*THIS DOES NOT FIT ALL NURGE HOOPS. I have a 1" thick No. 4 hoop and it does NOT fit! Use a thinner hoop.

The Nurge Embroidery stand and holder
Love the Nurge embroidery holder and stand. It. Is very easy to use, without any awkwardness. It’s sturdy. Does not loosen up the the material when using it. I’m glad I bought it and it is well worth the money.

Simple, high quality
If you’re looking for a sound needlework frame, look no further. This frame works beautifully for my larger needlepoint canvases, holding the canvas firmly. The spindles are well-smoothed hardwood; the angled brackets are veneer over high-density pressboard, which assures stability. I bought the two sets of longer spindles, as well, as the size that ships with this unit are fairly small for the projects I work.

Sturdy, good quality stand, but they cut some corners
So, it was between this and a Hardwicke Manor table clamp which are about the same price after discounts. I was looking for a long-term investment. I chose this because there happened to be a used item labeled as mint condition being sold by Nurge, fulfilled by Amazon, for only $7—seeing that price, I immediately jumped for it.I'm glad I did because it seems much more versatile than the Hardwicke Manor table clamp, which works best with 7'8" deep hoops (I embroider on very thin, often very expensive fabrics like silk, so this was def a no-go).The wood finishing could use some work as another reviewer said, but I'm happy. However, I wish they had repackaged all the parts in there properly, even just by putting it into a large ziplock bag or something, before sending it to me, when I took the package in the sound of everything clacking together was LOUD. I'm also missing one of the white covers that go on the wing nuts. Not that it matters because I'll probably measure them so I can replace them with metal wing nuts. While it is a good quality embroidery stand, I still would not have paid quite full price for it because you can tell they cut corners wherever possible. I'll probably sand it down at some point too.

Great idea, but poor quality in the workmanship.
I liked the idea of sewing cross stich on my lap. But the screws and the bolts didn't match to hold the frame together. All the pieces that were to cover the screw head did not fit. I was very disappointed that it was not usable.

Does Not Hold Their Own Hoops
This is a solid, well-constructed embroidery frame stand. I like the adjustably, and the joints stay in place once the wing nuts are screwed down tight. The major problem with the stand is the thick plastic clamp. First of all, I bought several Nurge hoops in the medium thickness (.6" thick). The description on these hoops specifically says they fit in this frame stand. Well, when the hoops have no fabric in them, they fit into the clamp. But once you put your fabric in, it's a toss-up as to whether you can cram the hoop into the clamp. I have to really push the hoop hard with both hands and my chest to get the hoops into the clamp. I like to wrap my hoops in bias tape to increase the tension on the fabric. This really helps to keep the fabric taut. But the wrapped hoops will NOT fit in this clamp! I'm going to have to buy narrower hoops, and narrow hoops hold the fabric less taut. Also the big plastic screw does not hold the hoop perfectly secure. The hoop still jiggles even with the screw clamped as far as possible.

Game-changer for Hoop Cross Stitching!
Game changer with my stitching. I stitch in hand but every now and then get a fabric that could benefit from a hoop. I dislike using hoops because the weight contributes to hand fatigue and discomfort. This stand is new so I haven't used it enough but it feels sturdy, is easy to use and adjust, and I love the long head to hold my project in. My hands also are free to just stitch. I hope to get proficient at two handed stitching with it but even being a newbie, it is making my project so much more enjoyable!
